I wanted to pass on how well the HVAC installation went on May 6, 2013. The crew did an exceptional job keeping the areas clean and finished the whole job a day ahead of schedule. I could tell by their work ethic that they take pride in their work.
An investment like this starts with the first impression of the company and Kevin Allen represented South Nashville Heating & Cooling exceptionally well. Kevin conducted himself in a professional manner during the negotiations and enhanced my knowledge I acquired while conducting my own research. He checked our existing downstairs system and arranged for the technicians to inspect it and my hot water heater while they were on site for the new installation. We planned a phased approach to enhancing my existing downstairs system in the future. Without his thorough review and honest recommendations, I may have selected another company.
Jason Broyles increased my confidence I picked the right company. When he arrived on the job, he kept me up-to-date on the progress and I could tell he is a hands-on leader. During a conversation with Jason, I mentioned I needed to complete a few projects and needed to rent a 14-foot stepladder to complete them. Without hesitation, he offered me one of the company’s ladders to use for a few days.
At the end of the job, Jason asked to borrow our vacuum cleaner and the entire crew pitched in to clean up which I have no encountered with other jobs I have contracted to complete. Zach’s words still stay with me, “It’s our mess, why should you clean it up?”

Phil and his team exceed my expectations on every dimension. For over six years our system never worked properly despite repeated efforts by three other local providers (in addition to the original installer). I met with each of those providers when they worked on the system and, not being an HVAC guy, I believed what I was told – the system has this or that problem, needed this or that part, etc. Only upon meeting Phil did I learn the facts and receive a diagnosis and a plan of action.
He explained to me, in terms I can understand, the Unico system design and how, with significant modification of the trunk lines, supply lines, returns, etc, the system would perform up to specs. So, the team arrived, worked according to Phil’s direction and the job was completed on a timely basis. They respect his knowledge and leadership. It was a pleasure to have him and his team in our home.
…Having been in the business world for nearly 35 years, I know there is no substitute for competence – one can advertise, cajole, etc. all day long to get business, but in the end clients are satisfied when a business meets or exceeds customers’ expectations. The old HVAC system that was in the house when we bought it a couple of years ago was a 1988 model and was oversized for the house. When we had the house insulated with spray foam, it was even more necessary to replace the old HVAC system with one suited to the ‘new environment.’ Philip (the owner of S. Nashville H9C) personally made a house call and educated us about our options and answered all of our questions.
The irony of all this was that the former owner of the house was an HVAC man. I get the impression he thought bigger was better! Not the case, as Philip pointed out!

My husband and I contracted with South Nashville Heating and Cooling to replace 30 year old duct work and relocate and replace my clothes dryer vent. We were given a two week prior notice of the work being done. On Monday morning, Jason Broyles arrived with his four workers and stood in the driveway and gave explicit instructions and all details of the job to be done. Prior to starting to tear out the old duct work, the “gentlemen” (and I do mean gentlemen) put covers over their work shoes and came inside to place white towels over all vents to keep any dirt and dust from entering our home.
Prior to this Monday Morning, my husband had undergone surgery. On Monday PM, I had to take him in to the doctor to be checked. Upon leaving, I told these gentlemen where the colas were and left the house un-locked and felt very comfortable doing so. On Tuesday, my husband experienced complications and I took him to the doctor. Upon leaving that afternoon, one of the workers offered to stay late one afternoon and mow our lawn and stated, “Mr. S, I will not charge you anything for doing it.” By Wednesday AM, I had to take my husband to the ER and he was hospitalized. Our daughter came by to let the workers in our garage to have access to their needed materials. She also gave them the code to open and close our garage doors because we trusted these guys completely.
These gentlemen finished our job a whole day early, sealed off the old dryer vent, and since we had bagged mulch in the edge of our landscaping to spread upon completion of the job…they actually spread the mulch and cleaned up any mess they had made, hauled off everything that was trash…turned the thermostat to 72. Upon completing this job, they called our daughter’s cell phone so she could come by and check the house and lock up.
Upon arrival, we found a very, very comfortable home and no indications of workers having been here the week previous.

Have used HVAC contractors for over 40 years in 6 homes in my lifetime and have never received the service quality of SNHC. This company is exceptionally knowledgeable and trustworthy. The staff is courteous and prompt. The workmanship is clearly the best I have seen. The most helpful aspect of the service is that they really understood how the Unico system is designed and functions and they made it function as designed. I highly recommend this company.

I have never seen a crew of workers as professional as these young men. They were clean, neat uniforms, organized, polite and fast at their work. I wondered if they all had military backgrounds. In our home, we have cats, kids, dogs – so you can imagine the working conditions here weren’t pleasant and it was hot. I never saw or heard one complaint or even an aggravated expression. It’s rare to see people take pride in their work these days, but these men did. Whoever hired and trained them did a good job of it. And our electric bill is about half of what it was last year. Thank you.
